How to Unbox & Assemble Your Furniture

Tips for unboxing, checking parts and assembling your Megsu solid wood furniture safely.

Last updated: April 1, 2024

Before You Begin

  • Find your manual — Every product has a size guide and assembly instructions in our Product Instructions library
  • Clear the space — Assemble in the room where the furniture will be used; finished pieces can be heavy and may not fit through doorways
  • Protect the floor — Work on a rug, blanket or the flattened cardboard to avoid scratches
  • Get a helper — Larger items such as bed frames and dressers are much easier with two people

Step 1: Open the Boxes Carefully

Use a box cutter with a shallow blade to avoid scratching the wood. Some products arrive in multiple boxes — make sure all boxes have arrived before starting.

Step 2: Check All Parts

  • Lay out every panel and hardware bag
  • Compare them against the parts list in your manual
  • If something is missing or damaged, stop and contact us with photos and the part number

Step 3: Assemble Step by Step

  • Follow the manual in order — don't skip ahead
  • Hand-tighten bolts first, then fully tighten once the frame is square
  • Don't over-tighten, which can strip threads or crack wood

Step 4: Final Checks

  • Make sure the piece sits level and doesn't wobble
  • Anchor dressers and tall storage to the wall using the included anti-tip hardware
  • Re-tighten all hardware after a few weeks of use, as wood naturally settles

Keep the Packaging

Hold on to the original boxes until you're sure you're keeping the furniture — returns must include the original packaging. See our Return & Refund Policy.

Note: A light natural wood scent when unboxing is normal and fades within a few days in a ventilated room.
