Platform Beds: No Box Spring Needed

Megsu bed frames are platform beds with a built-in slat system, so most mattresses can be placed directly on the slats — no box spring required.

Compatible Mattress Types

  • Memory foam and latex mattresses
  • Hybrid mattresses (coils plus foam)
  • Innerspring mattresses

Check your mattress manufacturer's guidelines for any specific foundation requirements, such as maximum slat spacing.

Tips for the Best Fit

  • Match the size — Choose a mattress in the same size as your bed frame (e.g., Queen frame → Queen mattress)
  • Consider height — Thicker mattresses raise the sleeping surface; check the frame's headboard height and side-rail depth in your size guide
  • Respect the weight capacity — The combined weight of the mattress and sleepers should stay within the limit listed for your frame
  • Install all slats and center supports included with the frame

Standard North American Mattress Sizes

Mattress SizeDimensions
Twin38" × 75"
Twin XL38" × 80"
Full54" × 75"
Queen60" × 80"
King76" × 80"
California King72" × 84"

Frame dimensions are always a little larger than the mattress. Exact measurements for each Megsu bed are listed in its size guide.

Important: Avoid placing a box spring on top of the slats unless your frame's instructions say it's supported — it can raise the mattress too high and add unnecessary weight.
